SICK and VITRONIC Sign New Partnership Agreement for the US Market

SICK, Inc.

Waldkirch/Wiesbaden (Germany), 6 March 2008 – The collaboration between SICK and VITRONIC in the US market for courier, express and parcel service providers (CEP) was a success story from the moment it began in 2003. Together, VITRONIC and SICK convinced the market leaders in the CEP sector of the high quality and performance of their camera systems for package identification. Today several thousand optical vision cameras read barcodes, 2D codes and address labels, greatly increasing the productivity of customers in the USA. Up to now, the two contractual partners have exclusively marketed the VITRONIC VICAMssi recognition camera to companies in the US market. From now on the companies will offer both the new VICAMssi2 (VITRONIC) and ICR890 (SICK) cameras, providing customers greater opportunity for selecting the ideal solution.

Customers of both companies will continue to benefit from service and support for their installed equipment. This has been agreed, in a long-term contract,  by the two companies. Within the framework of this contract, both VITRONIC and SICK customers can obtain services and purchase new equipment to expand existing systems or update to the latest technology.
In a joint statement Reinhard Bösl (Chairman of SICK AG) and Dr. Norbert Stein (Managing Director of VITRONIC GmbH) said: ‘‘Together, we have made identification technology from Germany the market leader in the CEP sector. We are both convinced that the users of our products will, in future, profit even more from the new arrangements.’‘
