OMRON Automation - Americas Posted 07/13/2004
NASHUA, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- Robotic Vision Systems, Inc. (RVSI) (RVSI.OB) today said it has received a blanket order for approximately $1.1 million from one of its partners for Data Matrix reading and machine vision inspection equipment to be delivered over the next six months, primarily for installation in automotive and electronics manufacturing facilities. RVSI's equipment will be used both to read Data Matrix 2-D codes marked on automotive components and printed circuit boards and to monitor and control manufacturing processes.
‘‘This is a case of the right product for the right market,’‘ said Ray England, Vice President - Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Acuity CiMatrix.
‘‘The automotive manufacturers have specified our HawkEye™ series of smart camera readers and cited reading performance, ease of use, and uptime as the reasons for their decision to go with our products.’‘
Equipment to be delivered as part of the order will also be applied for tracking and tracing printed circuit boards to which Data Matrix marks have been inscribed.
The HawkEye 1500 line of Data Matrix readers deliver industry leading performance in a compact smart camera package. Unique features such as the built-in Quicset™ audiovisual alignment, auto-learn capability and intelligent imaging simplify integration allowing easy plug-and-play setup without the use of an external PC or monitor. RVSI's Data Matrix decoding algorithms allow the HawkEye to robustly read challenging codes directly marked on a variety of parts. Optional built-in verification using RVSI's unique direct part mark verification technology enables users to monitor mark quality on a real-time basis to ensure readability.
