Vision Systems Design Posted 08/08/2011
Nashua, NH - PennWell Corporation, a global business-to-business media and information company, has named Andrew Wilson as Editor-in-Chief of Vision Systems Design magazine. Wilson replaces Conard Holton who has joined PennWell's Laser Focus World magazine as Editor-in-Chief.
Wilson will oversee all editorial operations of Vision Systems Design's magazine and website, reporting to Susan Smith, Group Publisher in PennWell's Technology Group. "I'm looking forward to increasing the presence of the magazine and website both in the United States and in Europe, while at the same time maintaining the editorial excellence for which Vision Systems Design has become known," says Wilson. "This will be accomplished by implementing novel editorial ideas both in print and online that will engage the reader more fully."
Wilson has 20 years of knowledge of the design and development of machine vision and image processing systems. He is the Founding Editor of Vision Systems Design and was also Founding Editor of Electronic Imaging, a magazine purchased by PennWell over 20 years ago.
"We are thrilled to have Andy take the editorial helm at Vision Systems Design and confident that he will increase the visibility of the magazine and website in the global marketplace," says Smith. "He is in a great position to further our excellent relations with our audience and the industry."
Smith notes, "We are also very pleased that photonics industry veteran Conard Holton has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Laser Focus World. This will further strengthen the synergy between the publications."
PennWell President and Chief Executive Officer Robert F. Biolchini noted that Vision Systems Design has been the leader in its field for nearly 20 years, building a strong reputation for technical depth and broad geographical coverage. He says, "The strength of our digital media vehicles and global partners has enabled us to achieve an impressive global footprint, which includes Vision Systems Design."
