Edmund Optics® Saving Lives in Iraq War

Edmund Optics

September 22, 2008, Barrington, NJ - An American hero out of the Iraq war recently thanked Edmund Optics® for enhancing the safety of US combat forces through advanced technology. Silver Star recipient Sergeant First Class Sean Bennett pointed to EO's advanced technologies as key contributors to the effectiveness and safety of US ground forces in combat missions.

SFC Bennett is a 15-year veteran of the US Armed Forces who has served with distinction in the war in Iraq. He recently was awarded the Silver Star, one of the US Military's highest honors, for his actions on January 20, 2007 in defending against a highly coordinated attack on US troops serving at the provincial capital of Karbala, a major Shiite holy city south of Baghdad.

"I have personally witnessed the advancement of weapons technology with the aim of making it a safer fight for the soldier on the ground," said SFC Bennett, "and one major contributor to the armed service member on the ground got it right. Edmund Optics-America has been providing soldiers like me the ability to bring the fight to the enemy during the day with superior optics that allows pinpoint precision instead of old iron sight shooting." SFC Bennett also singled out EO's optical contribution to night vision goggles (NVG) as another significant factor in enhancing US combat effectiveness. "At night in the battle against terrorism my men and I are able to operate with cohesion and great confidence because NVG's have given our military an upper hand."

SFC Bennett goes on to credit the technologies that EO and other suppliers of innovative military equipment with the preservation of life in such combat situations. "I can with 100% confidence say that these innovations have saved lives of not only our armed forces, but innocent civilians on the battlefield as well. Thank you for a great contribution to the American fighting force and what we stand for."

The comments by SFC Bennett have helped put a human face on the commitment to excellence that EO pursues. "We are gratified to receive such confirmation that our efforts in support of the US armed forces are saving lives in the field," said Edmund Optics' CEO, Robert Edmund, "and we are honored to be recognized by heroes such as SFC Bennett for our contributions."
