Cognex Corporation Posted 11/21/2003
Cognex Corporation CGNX, the world's leading supplier of machine vision systems and intelligent sensors, has shipped its 200,000th machine vision system. The system was purchased by AgentWare, a leading developer of real-time information access and process management systems for the automotive industry. The 200,000th system was presented to Agentware's President and CEO, Hal Popplewell, at the Allen-Bradley Automation Fair on November 19th.
AgentWare purchased the system as part of an order for multiple Cognex In-Sight(R) vision sensors that AgentWare will integrate at a major automotive transmission manufacturing complex in the Midwest. The Cognex vision sensors will be used for error proofing and analyzing production by automatically reading the 2D codes that are marked directly on transmission components.
‘‘The shipment of our 200,000th system represents a major milestone in our company's progress in bringing machine vision to an ever-growing number of manufacturers around the world,’‘ said Dr. Robert J. Shillman, Cognex's CEO, Chairman, and Founder. ‘‘In just four years we have doubled the number of systems shipped. This rapid growth is proof that manufacturers around the world are choosing Cognex systems because they improve productivity, lower manufacturing costs, and assure product quality.’‘
‘‘AgentWare provides manufacturers with solutions that optimize productivity and reduce inventory costs, and machine vision is a critical part of that process. We selected Cognex as our vision partner because of their technology leadership and because of their 20-year successful history of providing high quality machine vision systems and sensors for factory automation,’‘ said Mr. Popplewell.
