Advantech Launches PCI Express Vision Card Portfolio with GigE Vision Support
Advantech Corporation Posted 08/23/2016
Advantech’s IIoT iAutomation Group is pleased to announce the launch of two high-end frame grabber PCI Express Vision Cards with onboard ARM processors, the PCIe-1172 and PCIe-1174 as well as the entry level PCIe-1672E and PCIE-1674E interface cards. Both series of cards use Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and support Power from the PCI Express bus.
GigE Vision is a global camera interface standard developed using the Gigabit Ethernet communication protocol. GigE Vision allows for fast transfer using low cost Ethernet cables over very long lengths. With GigE Vision, hardware and software from different vendors can operate seamlessly over GigE connections. The inclusion of this standard on this series of vision camera cards ensures that there is no frame and packet loss and provides reliable and robust image acquisition.
Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) is provided on both card series and allows developers to reduce their installation and maintenance time by using just one cable from the PCIe card to the vision camera to transmit data and provide its power.
The PCIe-1174 and 1172 are four and two channel high-end frame grabber models and include a dedicated FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) to reconstruct images before transmitting them in real time to the host PC via DMA (Direct Memory Access). This then frees up the host PC’s processor and ensures there is no frame or packet loss during image acquisition. To further aid installation and maintenance, this series also includes the use of Ad Hoc protocol which, like DHCP, doesn’t require a specific IP address and enables Systems Integrators (SI) to simply plug the camera in and go.
The PCIe-1174 and 1172 also support Trigger-over-Ethernet (ToE). ToE transmits the trigger command to the camera through Ethernet cable and includes GENiCAM SKDs to develop applications for any attached camera.
The PCIe-1674e and 1672e are four and two channel entry level interface cards which include high performance, low CPU workload Intel i350 Ethernet controllers as well as PoE and the GigEVision protocol.
