RIA and AIA Seek Nominations for Robots & Vision User Recognition Award
Nominations are now being accepted for the prestigious Robots & Vision User Recognition Award, presented every two years in conjunction with the International Robots & Vision Show. The next show will be held June 5-7, 2001, in Chicago.
The winner of the 1999 award was Pioneer Hi-Bred International for its use of robots and machine vision to depalletize bags of agricultural seed. As a result of its robotics and vision system, Pioneer dramatically reduced labor costs from 44 cents per bag to 22 cents per bag, which doesn't even take into account other benefits, such as reduction of employee injuries.
The Robotic Industries Association (RIA) and Automated Imaging Association (AIA) are looking for companies, like Pioneer, that have successfully applied robotics and machine vision technology to improve product quality, boost productivity, save money and strengthen their competitive position.
