Adoption of advanced wireless connectivity technologies, such as 802.11ac WiFi, means that network-access speeds must move well beyond their designed limits of 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps).
The 2.5Gb / 5Gb / 10Gb Ethernet will replace the 1Gb Ethernet as the mainstream computer networking technologies. A 1Gb Ethernet bandwidth is no longer enough to satisfy the demands of our customers. However, the cost to upgrade Ethernet bandwidth from 1Gb to 10Gb as well as the number of equipment that will need to be modified are rather high, making changes difficult. Therefore, to facilitate an easier transition, IOI offers a new product “GE10-PCIE4XG201”. It is 10G/ 5G/ 2.5G/ 1000M/ 100M Ethernet 10GBASE-T/ NBASE-T™ and PCI Express x4 Gen 2 Host Card. The product, which comes at a rather affordable price, uses Category 5e Ethernet cable to exceed the speeds of 1Gbps, 2.5Gbps, and 5Gbps Ethernet, providing customers a program upgrade that is low-cost and high-performance.
NBASE-T™ technology boosts the speed of broadly deployed Cat5e twisted pair copper cabling up to 100 meters in length well beyond the designed limits of 1Gbps.
Camera manufacturers can use IP (Silicon Intellectual Property,SIP, so called IP) which supports NBASE-T technology to quickly and easily improve the efficacy of a camera so that the transmission speed can be upgraded from 1Gbps to 2.5 Gbps or 5 Gbps.
The GE10-PCIE4XG201 reference design supports auto-negotiation allowing the NBASE-T™ solution to optimally select the best speed: 5 Gigabit Ethernet (5GbE), 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet (2.5GbE), 1Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) or 100 Megabit Ethernet (100MbE) over Cat5e or better cabling. 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) over Cat6a or better cabling.
GE10-PCIE4XG201 is compact sized and does not take up spaces. It can go with a variety of integrated servers. Customers who use 1U or 2U servers or workstations can also choose PCI brackets that are low profile.
