IDS’ UVC Cameras for Mac, Windows, and Linux
IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH extends its portfolio with the first USB 2.0 UVC camera for low-cost, high-volume projects. UVC industrial cameras provide platform-independent operation (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X). The first UVC camera models belong to the popular USB 2.0 camera series LE.
Users have the choice between two UVC camera models: UV-1551LE (board-level with M12 lens holder) and UV-1552LE (only board-level). M12 (“S-mount”) is a fairly-priced standard lens mount. The cameras with 1/3“ 2MP CMOS sensor (MT9D131STC) by Aptina provide a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and 15 frames per second. Also available: VGA (640 x 480), SVGA (800 x 600) and HD (1024 x 768). There are manually adjustable features like brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness and exposure time. Users may also implement own applications for the UVC camera via DirectShow (Windows) or Video4Linux (Linux).

What is UVC?
UVC (also USB video class) is a standard that combines certain devices into a special class of USB devices. UVC industrial cameras by IDS bring the advantage that there is no more need for a special driver to use the cameras.
