Overview

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will possess leadership qualities and the ability to work efficiently within budget and on schedule. The primary function and role will be to design industry leading measurement solutions within customer’s demanding timeframes. Working with other engineers, this role leads the realization of the design intent of new products from conceptualization and design through prototyping. Also, critical in this role is the application of standard procedures while carrying out production sustaining engineering duties, redesigning of existing products, and design of new products. Successful candidates will enjoy contributing to an innovative, forward-thinking team that always keeps the end user in mind.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Apply working knowledge of product design and assembly to the manufacturing process
  • Analyze problems or engineering requirements and develop designs to solve them
  • Devise solutions to existing and emerging manufacturing problems
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders and other engineers to reach a consensus on the best design approaches
  • Work with suppliers to ensure design intent is accurately communicated as well as to implement cost savings or quality improvements
  • Work within budget to deliver safe and efficient designs and prototypes on time
  • Mentor and lead other Mechanical Engineers
  • Allocate resources and time effectively

Minimum Education & Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • 6+ years’ design and quality control experience in product manufacturing
  • Knowledge of opto-mechanical design and tolerancing a plus
  • Good understanding of GD&T
  • Experience working in an ISO certified company and creating/maintaining ISO level procedures
  • Extensive SolidWorks experience working on engineering projects
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • History of progressive responsibility
  • Works independently with minimal supervision
  • SolidWorks Simulation and PDM experience a plus
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset
