Question Asked:

We have a robot placing pins on a flat glass surface. Then the product get autoclaved, then ground and then other attachments are added via urethane glue. We have an issue that we think the robots are not capable, and we want to add a vision/scaning/camera/laser system that will check the 4 pins to the math data to positions and tolerance. If the part is rejected, we need a signal and a robot will pickup the part and set it aside. We have a 2nd area we also want to do a similar check, since the part goes through a heating cycle. We want to make sure that the pin position did not change and are still go to the math. All this must be automated and data for each part must be stored for SPC work. Need help with coming up with a system in line conveyor to improve quality.

The real key here is the fact that you are inspecting glass. There are a number of techniques to improve contrast of glass. Also the tolerances of how well you are trying to position these pins.
