Vision Software Questions

Question Asked:

Hello, I am looking for some info about vision software development. I am looking for applying camera inspections to a 3D printer hardware to check the quality of the printed silhouettes. By now, under my basic research I already know about GigE protocol but not much about development of software for data collection of these kind of cameras. A good pointing for my research would be very appreciated.

Rafael, If you are looking at inspecting 3D printed parts, why not use 3D inspection techniques. I know you wanted more information to do research so look for 3D laser triangulation vision systems, or stereo vision systems. You will find a number of manufacturers who produce 3D inspection cameras, and there is a lot of information on the internet about how these systems work. Gencam is also a standard that you should look at so that the images that you retrieve from any hardware manufacturer can be processed by any software vendor, at least that is the theory if the systems are genicam compliant. Good luck with your research.
