Question Asked:
Hi, does anyone here have experience with imaging LSR (Liquid Silicon Rubber)? In our application we are over molding a polycarbonate insert with LSR . We need to detect LSR flash on the polycarbonate insert that can be less that .001in thick. We have three different colors of polycarbonate, but, I am currently working with orange. The LSR is translucent. I am currently unable to differentiate between the LSR and polycarbonate.

Nicholas, Have you looked at the LSR with a hyperspectral camera. This might give you one or more regions of the spectrum where the signal is different than with purely visible light. Also try and determine if you hit the LSR with certain light if it emits light at a different frequency. Some of the plastics perform well with these techniques, but you usually have to experiment to get the results. Andy
